Golden Eagle Power Flying Red Tail in Class Baby Owls Extended Version The Power of Golden Eagles |
This very unusual clip not only shows off predator/prey dynamics, but also reveals the downside of being pre-occupied with reproduction. The golden is a young bird, however, it has obviously developed some skill in hunting the largest grouse in the world: Western Capercaillie, Tetrao urorgallus.
Watch this one in its entirety. It starts with a dramatic flight, but gets better from there. This is remarkable footage and if you ever doubted the power of golden eagles, this video should put that to rest.
Spring, 2008
Spend some time watching our female great-horned owl as she takes a break from the ordeal of keeping eggs protected and warm 24 hours a day. The sound (vocalization) in the early part of the clip, is the golden eagle shown below. Bear in mind, just on the other side of the fence against which our owl is nesting, is a wild great-horned owl nesting as well. We will publish videos of the wild birds when available. Stay tuned.
It is early March and all of our raptors are feeling the consequences of the season changing. More sunlight, more heat, more daylight hours, and breeding behavior is everywhere. Our 27 year old golden eagle lays her first egg which has been captured in this lucky video clip. See more of our videos on our YouTube site.

If you have ever been impressed with the powerful visual appearance of a golden eagle, take a look at the hunting prowess of an immature female golden eagle used for hunting in Europe. The prey species is a small Roe Deer. The videographer is Ladislav Melo. The falconer is known as Franta. His name is Frantisek Chrpa from the Czech Republic, and you may access more at their web site. WOW! See more of our videos on our YouTube site.
