All About Owls

Second Date Now Booking

Our first date sold out quickly, so we have scheduled a second date for our most popular program featuring seven owl species with eight different birds. From our new snowy owl, all the way down to our eastern screech owls, you will be intimately immersed into the nocturnal and diurnal worlds of some of nature’s most accomplished predators.

Curator Anne Price, author and biologist, will take you on a magical mystery tour into the very secretive lives of owls. Colorado’s own Florissant formation yielded the world’s first barn owl ancestor, dating back to 65 million years ago; during this program you’ll meet the modern barn owl, a native to every continent on earth except Antarctica.

These well-adapted avian predators number twenty species in the United States and you’ll enjoy meeting eight of them up close: the barn owl, great-horned owl, red and gray morph eastern screech owls, barred owl, short-eared owl, snowy owl, and the burrowing owl.

There will be plenty of owl-themed merchandise and jewelry available for purchase. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

Suitable for well-behaved 7 year olds and up.

Color the Owls and Win!

Print off the black and white page above (use Ctrl P keys) then color all the owls as creatively as you can.  Bring the page with you and enter it into REF’s Owl Coloring Contest when you arrive. At the end of the program, one winner will be chosen and one runner-up. The winner will receive a pair of our Jabebo owl earrings, or one of the owl pins we have in stock.  The runner-up will receive a hand-made owl purse.

We must receive at least ten entries for the contest to take place.  Entries are  restricted to seminar participants only.  Be sure to print your name on the back of the page, and you must be present to win.

REF retains the rights (pro bono) to publish the entrants on our web site, in Raptor Chronicles, and our Facebook page.

Price  is $45.
